Let’s explore Omaha’s rich history together as we visit North Omaha!
Let’s hit the road and meet with experts and historians in the field! We’ve teamed up with our friends at the Nebraska State Historical Society and Joslyn Castle to bring you a series designed to demystify maintaining and preserving your old home or building. Join us for This Old Castle as we learn from the best experts in town. Join us Saturday, September 6th from 1pm-4pm for a multi-stop adventure! 1pm-2:30pm: Be the first to explore the restored former Fort Omaha officers’ quarters (that were moved to Florence Blvd in 1900!), led by Omaha History Farm owner Tim Reeder. 3pm-4pm: The Jewell Building at 24th and Lake was a historic cultural anchor of the North Omaha community for generations. Today, it serves as the home of the Great Plains Black History Museum. *prior to the tour, there will be an OPTIONAL 11:30am-12:30pm lunch meet-up at Harold’s Koffee House in Florence (8327 N 30th St, Omaha, NE 68112).
